INTERNATIONAL BAROQUE FESTIVAL MELK ABBEY
Johann Sebastian Bach: Sound of Heaven

FROM THE MELK COLLEGIATE CHURCH

Pentecost has many names: Feast of enlightenment, birth of the church, celebration of light, coming of the Holy Spirit. Johann Sebastian Bach finds names rich in words and jubilant sounds, from whose pen three works will sound at the finale of the Baroque Days: "O eternal fire, O origin of love", "So God loved the world", "Let her songs resound". The Baroque Days thus also enter the finale rejoicing, once again with Concentus Musicus Wien and Stefan Gottfried at its head. The Tölzer Knabenchor, which once performed with this orchestra under Nikolaus Harnoncourt and is now renewing its collaboration, will be heard for the first time in Melk.
