BAROQUE TREASURES - MUSICA SACRA
Johann Sebastian Bach: Mass in B minor, BWV 232

FROM THE MONASTERY KLOSTERNEUBURG (VIENNA)

This setting of a complete Ordinarium missae is one of Bach's most famous works and probably one of the most famous settings of masses ever. Numerous artists are inspired and fascinated by this great vocal work to this day. Despite a long period of origin and the different use of individual movements, it can be interpreted as a large, coherent composition. As Bach's last work, it occupies a special place not only biographically for the composer, but also stylistically for the history of music, combining styles antico and modern. With a large Bach Consort Vienna under the direction of Rubén Dubrovsky, an equally large Salzburg Bach Choir and outstanding vocal soloists such as Joanne Lunn, Céline Scheen, Kristin Mulders, Cyril Auvity and Christian Immler, this performance does justice to both the concert and liturgical parts of this monumental composition.
